A Winter Song

The cold winds gently blow,
Sun has surely lost some glow
Placid river water softly flows
  Leafless trees now look mellow
Thin mist will soon descend
Layers of fog will too follow
Lowering spirits to a new low
  Plumes from lit hearths ascend
Raise a toast of vodka now
Enjoy the hot grills & doze

Beautiful writing, Rahul! Your poem captures the essence of winter in so few words!

Because snow is rare in the Southwestern part of Arizona, I actually have taken photos similar to this one after etching words in the thin layer of fallen snow! The image truly caught my attention because I had to wonder if it was one of mine! :D

    Great post, dear Sir! :)

I hope the snow can wait until Desember before it comes... The sky is often very blue and clear in Norway when we have snow.

  22. Beautiful prose...just out of curiosity, your profile says you're from India, does it get really cold in winter or just in certain regions? I was there one December and whilst Delhi was icy cold, Mumbai was much warmer.

@ Sam- In India you can see temperature variation from -20 deg in Himalayas to +40 deg Celsius in some hot regions at any time of the year! Delhi is cold in winter and Mumbai remains fairly warm most of the time, as experienced by you. Thanks for liking..
