Dirty Laundry

We like to wash our dirty laundry
In full view of all and sundry
Petty brawls and bigger squabble
Are exhibits of this laundry galore
Sometimes scams and big crime
Make raving great news prime time
In morality we sunk a new low
How we recover only god knows

PS Image kind courtesy Google.

The poem is written as an inspiration from the current political quagmire we witness in newspapers and media

  1. Nicely expressed! The current political situation is just like that, every party wanting to go one up on the other. But none wanting to look at own house!!

  5. I think its the perfect satire on not just our politicians, but even the pleabians. =D Its strange how we indulge in airing our dirty laundry in public .. I guess it gives our ego a boost to mock people publically. :S

  7. How we recover ??
a big question.... day by day we r going so deep in that self-made-shit that recovery looks almost impossible... still we hope :)

  8. Aptly expressed in those few lines.
Just two days back I wrote a legal essay on similar issue.

And according to me, apart from these scams, the second worst thing is what the newspapers do...publishing our country's failures on the very first page. You know it is so appalling to look at the dirtiest crap early in the morning. Why can't they just start off with something good? But then, it is useless to complain about it because after all, it is just a secondary thing.

    1. Every word of what you say is true, Vinati:) Unfortunately, we derive some kind of sadistic pleasure in watching and reading misery as you illustrated in those words!

  10. There is so much dirty laundry that it becomes impossible to wash them in private. The other alternative is to live with it. And with a government pot that brazens it out by calling the kettle black, we have not hopes of it every improving. The media of course loves anything juicy, so they help wash and we watch.

    1. Finally I see the words of profound wisdom! My sole regret is that this juicy news except for soaring TRP ratings contributes very little in a meaningful way :)

  31. Nice points mentioned! There are 2 ways of playing dirty Politics.. One, in full view in front of all the voters and two - behind closed doors (with the unusual alliances with differing thoughts)..
