An Anguished Cry

A battered bruised body

          A deep hurt soul

That was what was left

   Of the young girl bold

She fought with lechers

    With all might no holds

A shamed human society

  Does nothing but cry hoarse

Intelligentsia debate every role

   Little help to anguished soul

Wake up law brokers

  Hear the knock on door

Act before it’s too late

  To tame wolves on stroll

PS- 1. My heart goes out for the young girl struggling in hospital after the recent brutal rape in Capital. May she recover and see the life which she so richly deserved to see!!

  1. Such a pathetic state in our country. The more I read about this incident, the more my anger grows. We are on the brink of hating our country and its system.

The poem fills the heart with pain.

  6. Rahul, it's sad and I really wonder what is wrong. I can't put a finger anywhere. Your poem captures the urgency of the situation. I just hope there is some stringent law in place for the rapists.

    Joy always,

  7. Very nicely put in words. Its sad. I think law and order will always have its limitations though. We need to culture the minds. I did a little bit of research on the topic and found some facts that hint something important - http://goo.gl/E7ZTl, please do take a read...

  9. We need to have laws that people fear. We need a system that works. This is happening to far too many people. The same with mass shootings in the US. When will 'something' be done about all of this. Very sad state of affairs.

    Nicely written, Mr. Bhatia.

  10. They say that 4-5 fast track courts have started working. These courts should punish the rapists (if proven) by harming their body permanently so that they would never thinking of harming any woman. Only male escort is not enough because the girl had one.

The girls should be bold, learn Karate and use it when time arises.

Every line in your poem is very meaningful, Rahulji. Our women are like the one in the picture now.

Hope this case also doesn't fizzle out like the Haryana rape case about which we don't hear anything now.

  14. All the women in power and sitting in the Parliament and Legislatures should go and drown themselves. It is a crying shame that a woman CM and a woman de facto head of the country have nothing to say. Nothing to offer in terms of a solution. I blame them more than anyone else. This is not a matter of patriarchy or male chauvinism or even objectification of women, but one of perversion and psychotic tendencies.

  19. I have been often disappointed by the attitude towards women; its shows everywhere in little little things. It hurts to even read or talk on this topic.

She is a brave girl and my heart and soul is with her. May god bless her with every happiness in life. All things are possible to God. ALL the nations prayers are with her

Things should change now. Even men have come out in support of stringent laws. Death penalty is a must for such deeds if only a fear can make society more civil towards women.

  27. My heart bleeds to see such deeds..This is diabolical..!! It's time to tame these demons. And no we don't need additional laws, we just need the accurate implementation, depending upon the gravity of the offence..in this case, these nefarious fellows must be put to slow death and not simply hanged.

  29. So true sir. Also glad to know that she's stable now and recovering. Its a sad state of affairs happening in India.. The least we can do now is to hand over the strictest punishment. That's the short term solution. Long term is what we need to plan out..

  31. This is the need of the hour. The law makers should apply deterrent theory in such appalling rape cases.

I feel sad when people say that the accused acted like animals. Hell NO! Don't abuse animals, people.

And the girl..well she is a brilliant fighter. I hope her fighting spirit remains intact and she comes out of ICU as soon as possible.

The poem is composed very well sir. With all the right emotions and right words.
