Welcome Rains

Heat waves give way to the dark clouds

The sunshine backs off and no longer people growl

It has been a long and arduous wait in sweat

The clap of thunder and raindrops take away fret

The gurgling streams and puddles spill all around

Torrents of rain and streaks of lightning abound

The respite is soothing as green shrubs have rebound

Nature has its way to bring happiness beyond bounds

Steaming hot tea and pakoras are such a delight

No better way to celebrate the drenched nature’s might.

  12. Lovely poem!

The rains have been crazy in Kolkata this past week. on Monday, we had hail and a wind-storm. Everyone had trouble returning home on time. A 35-minute journey took around 4 hours. The rains have not been heavy since, but it's still pouring incessantly. Our lift has stopped working because rainwater has accumulated and since the terrace is not sloped, water is seeping through the gap of the door, down the stairs and flooding the house!

While I love the rains, this is the first time I am experiencing such an inconvenience *sigh*
