Granny

The back hunched in an arch
A slow gait with years of march
Wrinkled face, tender hands
Tuft of hair of white sand
Horn rimmed glasses perched on nose
Deep blue eyes radiate love ever more
She held my hand as a child
    Taught me to walk upright
Now I hold her hand tight
Lovingly protect her with all might

  11. We always fight for stupid reasons like caste, religion but never realize we are all basically the same. The same feelings, same emotions, same love...this poem must have painted the picture of their grandma in every1's eyes irrespective of who they are. The same feelings bind us all :)

  15. What a lovely poem, Rahul. You know something, I absolutely adored my grandmother (dadi). Its been years since she passed away, but there is not a day when I don't remember her.

Rahul..I hope I can use this poem when I am teaching my students poetry. Will tell them that its by a writing friend and a blog buddy.

PS..by mistake I posted the comment meant for this post on the previous post for which I had already commented. Please delete that comment.
