None shine either like sun or moon
Small people and small aspirations
How will they lead a mighty nation
A common man's needs are few
How we wish they understood and knew
Its like choosing between devil n deep sea
Small mean men haggle for power and reverie
Little do they care to build a strong nation
All they worry is to further their ambitions
This country needs men of steel
Not cowards and spineless running to steal

True, we lack able leadership...nice weave.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Alka! Yes true deficit!
DeleteLeaders are supposed to take risk and think differently. Succeeding or failing is secondary. I liked the cartoon a lot; though the ant doesnt know where its going by itself; the fact that its leading shows courage. Courage and intelligence makes a good leader
ReplyDeleteAnts are surely more courageous and risk taking:)
Deleteloved the image..
ReplyDeletecurrent political scenario well depicted..
we got to choose among bad among worsts.. that is no good for our nation !!
Awesome read
Thanks Jyoti! Unfortunately that is the case!
DeleteHere's hoping for those courageous leaders who really want to make a difference!
ReplyDeleteWe wait for them to arrive:)
DeleteIf only the leaders didn't have such thick hides.....
ReplyDeleteThe thick skin makes them impregnable:)
DeleteToday's leaders are not even bloody managers .
ReplyDeleteFrustrating, is'nt it:)

DeleteLovely and a timely poem! And the image is bang on, so depicts are politicians, but atleast the ant has some remorse!
ReplyDeleteCould'nt agree more , Jenny!
DeleteVery well written.. yeah our country lack good leaders leave alone great leaders ... Don't think any one can inspire us... The pic is awesome another great post :D
ReplyDeleteToo far from inspiring, Jenny:)
DeletePower corrupts and how!
ReplyDeleteIn our case absolute power or little power corrupts absolutely, Purba:(
DeleteI quote you. Italy needs a real leader too. All we have now is robbery, robbery and more robbery...

Francesca, unfortunately this kind of leadership is now a global phenomena, but hurts more in developing countries!
DeleteThis is a brilliant deduction Rahul, I resonate with it because currently South Africa's political situation is less than ideal, in fact it is very corrupt.
ReplyDeleteSam, Systems all over have been rendered defunct by small men!
DeleteRightly said sir ... so well said ..
ReplyDeleteThe people our leaders need to wake up , they dont have any love for the nation.. what i have to say about them can be summed up by saying
jo bhara nahin hai bhavon se
behti jisme rasdhaar nahin
woh hridya nahin Pathar hai
jisme swadesh ka pyar nahin
jisme na nijh gaurav
na nijh desh ka abhiman hai
woh nar nahin hai
mritak hai nira Passu ke samaan hai
I was writing a post so cut pasted a few lines from that post ..
Bikram's

ReplyDeletewriting a poem on such topics is difficult, for me at least..
Your poem truly speaks a lot....A very thoughtful poem!
I attribute the greatness to readers like you, Valli who like what I dish out:)
DeleteSo true. You write very good, Rahul.
ReplyDeleteThank you, Eden for those kind comments:)
DeleteYOu are right- there is little to choose from- how can we decide between a scoundrel and a theif?
ReplyDeleteLittle to really choose,Meera:(
DeleteSo true and apt for our nation, leaders who don't know where they are leading us and followers following blindly. Love both the picture and the poem, Rahul.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Rachna! Unfortunate but true!
Delete"Its like choosing between devil n deep sea
ReplyDeleteSmall mean men haggle for power and reverie"
And
The ending sets of lines are very powerful in the poem. You told what a common man feels but can't say. He is busy running to fulfill his limited needs...
Thanks a lot , Saru! How we wish that things change for better...
DeleteA typical scenario of today's times! Nice one Rahul ji!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Jen for having liked it!

ReplyDeleteA big thanks , Akriti for that sweet comment:)
DeleteI wish every decent person would make a decent leader but that's not the case. Still, many "bad leaders" are actually decent people they just weren't cut out for the job.
ReplyDeleteAgree with what you say, Agnes:)
ReplyDeleteyes the leaders of today are selfish and money minded. they think about everything expect the welfare of the people.
ReplyDeleteI hope some change comes about soon!
sarah
Thanks Sarah for agreeing with views:) Change for benefit is always welcome, Sarah!
DeleteA beauty:)
ReplyDeleteVery well said that the choice we have while choosing a leader is not very much. And incidently, one who gets elected celebrate his selection for the next five years and the hangover will go just before the next election!
This is India, 'afterall'..:)
Welcome to my blog , Gopal!Am happy you liked this:)
ReplyDeleteTruly said!
ReplyDeleteA big thanks!
Deletetoo good! well deserved applause! :)
ReplyDeleteA huge thanks, Harman for that sweet comment:)
DeleteIn my opinion, these days, it's quite hard to be a leader, because every person has different thoughts. However, a good one should know what to say and when, to come up and implement new ideas. I've learned these at Leadership development Toronto camp... a really great place where I've met many great persons.
ReplyDeleteWelcome to my blog, Diana!A big thanks for the link to the Leadership development camp.
DeleteReally enjoyed that Rahul. Couldn't decide which line I liked best - the small mean men haggling one or the last two lines about men of steel and stealing men. You hit the nail on the head.
ReplyDeleteGrateful indeed to you, KayEm for having taken time off to read my blog and having liked this poem!
