Today's Leaders

So many leaders too few to choose
None shine either like sun or moon
Small people and small aspirations
How will they lead a mighty nation
A common man's needs are few
How we wish they understood and knew
Its like choosing between devil n deep sea
Small mean men haggle for power and reverie
Little do they care to build a strong nation
All they worry is to further their ambitions
This country needs men of steel
Not cowards and spineless running to steal

  2. Leaders are supposed to take risk and think differently. Succeeding or failing is secondary. I liked the cartoon a lot; though the ant doesnt know where its going by itself; the fact that its leading shows courage. Courage and intelligence makes a good leader

    1. Francesca, unfortunately this kind of leadership is now a global phenomena, but hurts more in developing countries!

  11. This is a brilliant deduction Rahul, I resonate with it because currently South Africa's political situation is less than ideal, in fact it is very corrupt.

  12. Rightly said sir ... so well said ..

The people our leaders need to wake up , they dont have any love for the nation.. what i have to say about them can be summed up by saying

jo bhara nahin hai bhavon se
    behti jisme rasdhaar nahin
    woh hridya nahin Pathar hai
    jisme swadesh ka pyar nahin

    jisme na nijh gaurav
na nijh desh ka abhiman hai
    woh nar nahin hai
mritak hai nira Passu ke samaan hai

I was writing a post so cut pasted a few lines from that post ..

  21. YOu are right- there is little to choose from- how can we decide between a scoundrel and a theif?

  22. So true and apt for our nation, leaders who don't know where they are leading us and followers following blindly. Love both the picture and the poem, Rahul.

  23. "Its like choosing between devil n deep sea
Small mean men haggle for power and reverie"

    And

The ending sets of lines are very powerful in the poem. You told what a common man feels but can't say. He is busy running to fulfill his limited needs...

  28. I wish every decent person would make a decent leader but that's not the case. Still, many "bad leaders" are actually decent people they just weren't cut out for the job.

  29. yes the leaders of today are selfish and money minded. they think about everything expect the welfare of the people.
I hope some change comes about soon!

Very well said that the choice we have while choosing a leader is not very much. And incidently, one who gets elected celebrate his selection for the next five years and the hangover will go just before the next election!
    This is India, 'afterall'..:)

  33. In my opinion, these days, it's quite hard to be a leader, because every person has different thoughts. However, a good one should know what to say and when, to come up and implement new ideas. I've learned these at Leadership development Toronto camp... a really great place where I've met many great persons.
