Can the silence be golden?
When many are
trampled down
Many
more struggle n have basics denied
How can one be oblivious of the plight?
The perpetrators of crime against humans
Go scot free and
intents further bolden?
They mock laws
twisted and warped
Each crime leaves misery trail aghast
None raise voice
against growing specter
The courageous voices stifled, snuffed, astray
Human
lives no better than a hunted prey
Silence
can never promise a golden ray

Human life no better than a hunted prey!!! very strong words Rahul sir!!! how true this is the status we all are in!!! Brutal but fact!
ReplyDeleteFeel sad for the situation we are in:(
Deletethe truth has been spoken in your words..:) loved the line: The courageous voices stifled, snuffed, astray
ReplyDeletethe voice that volunteers justice is suppressed and the silence is being brought.:)
very well written..:)
Thanks Jemina for liking but really the situation is grim!
DeleteIn India if you remain silent you are in the frying pan, if you choose to open your mouth you are in the fire. This is a devils alternative. Nevertheless I believe we must speak out against brutality, crime, corruption, injustice.
ReplyDeleteAn experienced person that you are Rama, you said it right!
DeleteVery strong words, but very true. Is there any way we can fight them?
ReplyDeleteThere does not appear to be salvation in sight in short term at least!
DeleteAlas, we are but mute spectators.
ReplyDeleteHope things change for better Vinati!
DeleteWhat a strong poem..!!I used to feel like a pressure cooker, holding everything in. I have changed, now I am no longer scared to speak my mind and that has made a huge difference.
ReplyDeleteLovely lines....well described:)
Thanks Panchali for that apt example of a pressure waiting to be released! Wish more voices vent their feelings!
DeleteAmazing and profound poem, such vital words and a powerful message. Silence may be golden but strong words can cut right through it.
ReplyDeleteSometimes, a strong dose works better than subtle mute expression in today's world , Sam! Thanks a lot!!
DeleteThanks for your kind visit.. Happy Weekend!
ReplyDeleteThanks ! Wish you the same!
DeleteSilence out of fear is the worst ever solution
ReplyDeleteAgree with you Mr Chowla!
DeleteYes, sometimes we need to speak out and act. Silence in such cases is perceived as if you don't care. Not even those who have the authority should speak but also those who are a part of it. We shouldn't be mute spectators.
ReplyDeleteThought provoking poem, Sir.
Thanks Saru! Speaking out sometimes is necessary!
DeleteGreat use of words! Now-a-days, when we have to speak choice of words is extremely important!
ReplyDeleteYes Kusum, choice of words is more important than just speaking out:)
DeleteNot always. Sometimes it is good to state what you feel.

Fully agree with you Asamptha:)
DeleteAmazingly strong poem Rahul. I am beginnng to feel that the situation has gone beyond control and no voice works anymore.
ReplyDeleteA big thanks Padmaja for liking the poem:)Wish things get better!
DeleteSilence just emboldens them. As recently as the nineties, Rahul, people never even spoke out. At least now they do in helpless anger. Deciding it is worth uniting and speaking with one voice and conducting a well organised campaign is what will ensure further success. People have to decide for themselves that it is worth their time and effort.
ReplyDeleteAgree! People need to decide what is best for them!
Deletesilence has done more damage to the society than we think..
ReplyDeleteif only they could have stepped-up and did the right thing.
I sometimes wonder where do we lack.
Jyoti, a constant dilemma to understand where things have gone wrong:(
Deletestrong words...
ReplyDeleteThanks Ashok!
DeleteWe have been talking very loudly about lots issues, but the people who are supposed to listen have become deaf.
ReplyDeleteBeing vocal has not really helped:(At least the issues that hurt most need to be addressed!
DeleteI wish I could speak less though. I am unsure of justice and the whole karma bit thesee days, having seen how some good people suffer for no reason.
ReplyDeleteIt is very nice to see you back, Chintan and look forward to reading more of your posts! It is distressing for sure to see good people coming in harms way and the goons getting away with impunity:(
DeleteIn total agreement with you, Ashwini:)
ReplyDeleteGreat use of words. Brutal but true. An honest portrayal of reality. " Human lives no better than a hunted prey," They mock laws twisted and warped, Each crime leaves misery trail aghast." I was mesmerized by your words, Rahul. Your poetry is becoming so poignant and heart-wrenching.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Rachna for those words of encouragement! It has been well worth a wait to see your comments:)
DeleteRahul, Can I read this poem to my students. They will love it.
ReplyDeleteRachna, for me there could be no better reward than to get this kind of appreciation! Please feel free to use this if you consider it worthy of sharing:)
DeleteSilence has its place.
ReplyDeleteI agree Agnes:)
DeleteSilence has a threshold limit. when thats crossed it will erupt!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely right!Totally agree Jaishree:)
DeleteExplained the other side of silence so beautifully, Lovely message Sir! Silence is not always golden
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Valli:)

DeleteSilence is golden when people can read your silence correctly. When people treat silence as an "I forgive" or "I am powerless", that's when speech becomes golden.. Very well said sir..
ReplyDeleteA big thanks Binu, and what you say is true!
ReplyDeleteHello Mr.Rahul,
ReplyDeleteSilence is golden for the inner peace,
when world is ready to take it for lease,
but the way your words expressed & tease,
Silence must stand in queue to pay its fees :)
keep writing & smiling :) wonderful concept.
