Ricocheting bullets break the quiet
Menacing grins and shrieks of fright
Violence
unabated this tumultuous night
Who was wrong or what was right
Tale of human
misery, disaster n sleight
Mobs pillage, strike at will to kill
Callous
irresponsible lead the strike
Falling torsos splash this moonless night
Wailing women and crying children
Rendered homeless, inconsolable in fright
Even strong hearts melt at the gory sight
Who will answer for this human plight?
So scary to think that this is reality, Rahul. Beautifully composed!
ReplyDeleteHarsh reality which many choose to look away from Vidya:(
DeleteLyrical and beautiful...
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Bushra for those kind words!
DeleteHistory teaches us that riots are generated by oppression. Unluckily most of the times they are necessary to gain freedom
ReplyDeleteRight Francesca! Many reasons for riots but the end result is destruction and mayhem!
DeleteBeautiful composition... nice selection of words :)
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Simran for liking!
DeleteSo sad that riots have to exist... Beautifully written.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Lady Fi!

ReplyDeleteRiots are created by the politicians, and the blame game continues. Who cares for the lives and properties lost, all they care is the media coverage, and photos with the victims.
ReplyDeleteAnd the media too is sometimes very immatured in handling these rots, for they too are looking for gain, for more popularity of their news channel.
In fact, the cyclone came and went by without causing much damage, yet you could see the reporters hanging in the rain waiting for some terrible disaster to happen, can't they for a change be happy that it came and passed away, and just report the way everybody was ready if things were to turn bad. No, they wished with all their heart, that they had something meaty to report.
Nobody really cares for the common people who are the real sufferers in all these, so called man made riots.
Very well written Rahul, I only wish good sense would prevail, and people would stop creating such riots.
Thanks indeed Rama! I agree with every word you wrote and our TV channels are only on the hunt for spicy news! These channels are a mockery in name of news reporting!! Hope ordinary people suffer less in times to come!
Deleteunfortunately this is the world he live in and have to bring children up. Sad.

DeleteSynchronized hate by vested interests and it is the innocent who get killed.
ReplyDeleteShameful is'nt it Purba, to make a living out of poor and helpless people!
DeleteHmmm, life without riots is a dream now!
ReplyDeleteHow true? Life without riots is a dream now!
ReplyDeleteSad but true, Kusum!

ReplyDeletePoignant.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot, Alka:)
DeleteTruly representative of the current scenario - needless violence everywhere causing untold damages & misery
ReplyDeleteVery sad but we are going through tough times Rama!
DeleteIndeed! Poignant
ReplyDeleteThanks Deepak
DeleteVery meaningful.
ReplyDeleteThanks a lot Rajesh!
DeleteBeautiful. It reminds me of the partition days.
ReplyDeleteA few things including riots have not changed even after independence, PN! Sigh:(
DeleteYour words paint such a vivid picture of the pain and mess of a riot.
ReplyDeleteMess and mayhem is all it brings , Divya! So unfortunate!!
DeleteThere's absolute truth in what you say. Riots cause destruction, grief and pain to most humans. Beautiful poetry..
ReplyDeleteTrue KayEm mindless pursuits of sic minds! Thanks!
DeleteYou words portrayed such a clear picture of the scene in AP right now. My cousin who is an engineering student was saying, when they were all doing a peaceful strike, rowdies have come in between and slowly started destroying and burning things and these students had to give up...and how many families have lost their children. Pathetic it is..
ReplyDeleteLatha the violence in our daily lives has become a bane and planned and staged rioting leaves a ghastly trail behind!
DeleteYour words bring a harsh truth into the limelight. Its a very meaningful poem, Rahul.
ReplyDeleteThanks Rachna, it is a painful reminder of the beastly acts!
DeleteHi Rahul, these words are a true depiction of the state of the world today, its shocking and terrifying to think that everything you wrote is actually how some people live every single day in war torn countries. Excellent!
ReplyDeleteTrue Sam, a very harsh world for those who live in this environment in any part of the world and are subjected to a living hell!
DeleteWhat a true and moving poem. Sad, people don't understand that it's always their loss.
ReplyDeleteExactly Saru! So unfortunate!
DeleteWho will answer for this human plight - we ourselves! Isnt this right sir? We humans have been our own worst enemy..
ReplyDeleteThanks Binu! We the pliable ones are most responsible for the sad situation we are in!
