A Tapestry of Colors

The boat quietly meanders through the coconut tree arched in reverence extending a ‘welcome’ to the visitors to the ‘Gods Own Land’. A recent trip to backwaters of Poovar beach was a soul stirring experience. Poovar is one among the natural wonders where the Lake, River, Sea and Beach meet the land. A rare find in Kerala!

Distant thunders of the roaring sea, with a glimpse of huge waves, never ending dense foliage of coconut were our companion for the next two hours as the boat cruised along smoothly. The water shimmered with radiance  as if  generously sprinkled with silver over its surface. The area is abundant in well-preserved local flora, with hundreds of species of spices, exotic flowers, complete with banana and coconut groves

The golden sand at ‘The Golden Beach’ for miles, casts a magic spell. The spray of water created by the giant waves creates a mist akin to one experienced in winter in cold areas.

An occasional quacking of pearl white ducks and chirping of birds interrupts the all prevailing silence.

The sky changes color from shades of azure to golden, to flaming red before turning gray as the sun slowly sets in the west. The sea too reciprocates the exchange of color in unison with the sky as it changes color from different hues of blue to gray and finally black as the darkness sets in.

A rich ‘tapestry of colors ‘is on the display by the master strokes man in a truly awe striking manner.
